I enjoy giving private piano lessons to all ages and levels. My lessons integrate aspects of solfege- sight reading, harmony, theory- as well as memorization, technique, improvisation, and an in-depth exploration of the musical scores.

I will create your lessons with your objectives in mind. My goal is to help you grow as a musician and to help you find pleasure in the music you create at the piano.

Every student is entitled to a free introductory lesson where the teacher will assess the student's level, discuss the student's objectives, and determine the scheduling of future lesson lengths and dates.

Practicing

Attending piano lessons are crucial for musical growth, however most of the student's progress and musical ability will come from highly focused practice at home. In the lessons, the student will learn and develop effective practice skills and techniques which they can use in their daily practice. By learning to practice effectively, the student will improve their problem-solving skills, self-discipline, focus, and derive enjoyment from their playing.

Tuition

Tuition includes lesson time, preparation time, and office hours. Lesson times are based on the teacher's recommendation and availability. Monthly tuition can be paid at the student's first lesson of the month or can be paid at the beginning each individual lesson.

Attendance and Cancellation policy

Strong, on-time attendance is expected at piano lessons. If a student must cancel, they must notify the teacher by email, text, or phone call at least 24 hours in advance. In this case, a make-up lesson will be offered at an agreed upon time between the student and teacher. If a lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, a make-up lesson will not be offered and the lesson must be paid.

If a student has a contagious illness, it is requested that the student notify the teacher and not attend the lesson.

If the teacher must cancel due to an unforeseen circumstance, the teacher will notify the student immediately and offer a make-up lesson at a agreed upon time between the student and teacher.

Repertoire

The teacher will assign repertoire or method books. These books must be purchased by the student, or in certain circumstances, the teacher will provide the book if it is available in the teacher's personal library and then the student must reimburse the teacher. When possible, the teacher will provide a photo copy of the sheet music.
